About the State Department

Our Mandate

The State Department for the Blue Economy is mandated under Executive Order No. 2 of November 2023 to coordinate the development of policy, legal, regulatory and institutional frameworks for harnessing Kenya's blue-economy potential.

We coordinate national oceans & blue-economy strategy and drive sustainable transformation through research, innovation and private-sector partnerships — increasing local participation and investment for shared prosperity.
